Life Transitions in Early Adulthood

Finishing formal education, transitioning to the workforce, changing careers, attending college, leaving home (or moving back), dating, breakups, marriage, starting a family, and parenting young children have always been difficult times - and today’s young adults are dealing with the aftereffects of a pandemic that vastly impacted their experiences in these landscapes. For many of us, we have held certain expectations about what these changes would be or feel like. We are often less prepared for the reality of what meeting these milestones feels like (as well as the emotions that show up when we don’t meet them as expected). Life transitions such as these can call into question all sorts of deeply-held beliefs about self and the world. Together, we’ll consider which beliefs are helpful and which are not, connecting these to specific actions to help you chart a new course to self-acceptance and living fully.

Couples Counseling

I reserve a small number of appointments for couples who are navigating these transitions together. I am trained in Level One Gottman Therapy and find this approach extraordinarily useful. After 2-3 assessment sessions, couples receive helpful feedback about strengths and weaknesses, and immediately begin learning skills tailored to their specific issues that they can put into practice right away. Please contact me to inquire about current availability for couples’ sessions.
