Treatment for anxiety

Anxiety is one of the most frequently-cited reasons for seeking therapy, and for good cause: it’s usually a signal that we need to pay attention to something. Psychoeducation is a key treatment component for both adults and children. We’ll learn about the neurobiological basis of anxiety and the stress cycle, giving you the tools to understand what’s happening and why.

Children who are seen for anxiety need to have a caregiving willing to participate in at least one session per month. The reason for this is that caregivers can enact environmental and behavioral change between sessions, and have enormous power to direct the course of treatment for anxiety (even if it doesn’t feel that way!). While it’s a bigger commitment of time and money upfront, I strongly believe that this is the most effective strategy for 99% of families. My goal is to get your family back on the road to wellness as quickly as possible.
